Our Story
In 1965, Richard Healey Removals Ltd was founded by Richard Healey Senior, a painter and decorator who was travelling across the UK when he was asked to transport items along his route. This simple request quickly became a popular service, and Richard recognised an opportunity to expand. From this, Richard Healey Removals was born, specialising in reliable and efficient removals.
As the business grew, Richard’s son, Richard Healey Junior, joined the company at a young age, working his way through the ranks. Today, he serves as an active director, still involved in the day-to-day operations and even driving the company’s HGV vehicles. Richard’s dedication to quality service and customer satisfaction has helped the business become a trusted name in the moving and storage industry.
In the 1990s, Georgina, Richard Junior's sister, also joined the family business. She plays a key role as the company’s main surveyor, working closely with clients to ensure their individual needs are met. Georgina's hands-on approach and personal touch are a vital part of the service, creating lasting relationships with clients and making their moving experience smoother and more enjoyable. Like her brother, Georgina is an active director and continues to contribute her expertise to the company’s growth.
Also joining in the 1990s was Barry Howitt, who began with Richard Healey Removals as a porter and has since worked his way up to become the company’s Operations Manager. Barry plays a pivotal role in overseeing the day-to-day operations, ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of services. His extensive experience and dedication to high standards have been key to the company’s success.

Moving four bedrooms from Glasgow to Dorset in January is quite a feat. It’s also ten hours away. Thank goodness we were in the safe hands of Richard Healey Removals. Literally we had everything- from fragile and precious to bulky and heavy. Nothing broken and everything rebuilt. We had six packing and two travelling. They were all awesome and beautifully trained. Listening to them was like sitting in on a masterclass of packing and carrying. ‘Have you got that? Left hand down. Can you commit? Ok, after three. Now take a moment.’ We were incredibly stressed; they were incredibly cheerful. We salute you Ryan and Richard. Also Andy & Co. (And we recycled your boxes to a foster mum moving with five daughters who said a big thank you, too!)

All aspects of the move from Scotland to England was first class. A happy, careful and great team loaded all the contents and they were delivered and unloaded with care. Loading was a team of 5, delivery was a team of 2 - they worked like Trojan’s; and I’m grateful. Recommended - yes , yes, yes !

The removal men were very pleasant and worked well. Did everything I asked and asked me if they needed more details. Pleased I had them pack all the heavy things on day one and moved on day two asking where I wanted items placed. I have no complaints.
